1. Compare garment measurements

Use a kurta with the fit you want as the reference. Lay it flat without stretching it and record the chest width, shoulder width, sleeve length, upper-arm width, garment length, and hip width where relevant. Double flat chest and hip widths only when the seller's chart uses full circumference. Keep the original figures so you do not accidentally compare a flat measurement with a body circumference.

Decide how much ease you want. A close fit, straight relaxed fit, and layered fit need different garment dimensions even for the same body. Shoulder seams and armholes deserve special attention because added chest width does not always create comfortable upper-arm movement. If the page gives only a generic body chart, treat the result as less certain than a garment-specific chart.

Do not assume preshrinking, colourfastness, or wrinkle resistance unless current, reliable evidence says so.

Keep an uncertain first wash conservative and follow the label. Avoid treating a garment as colourfast based only on a dark or saturated product photograph. For decorated pieces, store them so hooks, sharp edges, and heavy folds do not pull the surface. The real cost includes the time and products needed to keep the garment wearable.

5. Protect return eligibility

Before ordering, note the exact seller, selected size and colour, included pieces, delivery estimate, return window, and exclusions. On arrival, compare the label and contents with the order before removing tags. Inspect for marks, damage, missing pieces, uneven stitching, and closure problems, then try the garment on indoors without perfume, makeup transfer, alteration, or washing.
